About BVA Design
Bradley Van Anderson (BVA) is a self taught Montana based artist with his current focus on unique one-of-a-kind sculptures. Growing up on a rural farm in Iowa, he was raised with the “waste not want not” mentality in which everything had a purpose and could be used again for repairs or to fabricate something entirely new. This ideology from his formative years has transferred over into his sculptures. Brad’s work is created from decades of salvaging, collecting, and treasure hunting for materials that he finds interesting and sees value in rather than just becoming discarded items of a society. Every piece is built entirely from reclaimed and recycled materials that each have their own rich history and now get to tell a new story as a distinctive sculpture that is meant to stand the test of time. Most of his work is inspired by the natural world and the outdoor pursuits lifestyle. To achieve this he uses a variety of techniques to form these pieces including welding, forging and polishing in order to get a refined look. It is not until one starts to look closely that they will really begin to see all of the different parts and pieces coming together to form the larger art form. The more time spent with his sculptures, the more potential they have to stimulate emotional feelings of nostalgia, curiosity, and intellect of the viewer.
